Grand Rapids, MI – National Nail’s CAMO Screw Off! in which hundreds of contractors competed in a deck fastening speed competitions at lumberyards in New England and New Jersey in 2017, will hold the finals at the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association (NRLA) LBM Expo in Providence, Rhode Island on Feb. 14, 2018.  The elimination rounds will be held at the Idea Exchange near the CAMO Fasteners booth #226, beginning at 11 a.m. – 3p.m. The “Elite 8” Finalists compete from 3pm – 4pm when the Grand Prize of a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle is announced along with cash prizes.  

Designed by National Nail to provide hands-on experience with its CAMO Deck Edge Fastening system, the CAMO Screw Off was hosted by CAMO stocking dealers this past summer and fall in a series of deck fastening speed contests.  The unique system, comprised of propriety guides, drill bits and fasteners, actually fastens deck boards on the edge, to give decks a more beautiful, barefoot-friendly, fastener-free surface.

To make it even more interesting, father and son Bob and Jesse Buzzell of Robert Buzzell Construction in Newton, NH will represent Moynihan Lumber of Plaistow, NH, facing off against each other in the finals!

“We are getting down to the wire and excitement is building, as contractors gear up to win that bike in The CAMO Screw Off! finals,” said W. Minimal Maintenance, Maximum Enjoyment

Just because people are spending more time outdoors doesn’t mean they’re willing to put in extra hours for care and maintenance. In fact, high-maintenance materials, such as wood, are seeing a decrease in demand as people are opting for lower-maintenance offerings that deliver better performance and sustainability.

Wood alternatives, particularly composite decking, are expected to experience above average annual gains in demand through 2020. Analysts predict this segment of the decking industry will grow at a faster rate than traditional wood** – and for good reason.

While railing matched to the decking remains perennially popular, an increasing number of homeowners are taking advantage of the complementary decking and railing pairings afforded by new railing materials in modern, metal finishes, as well as sleek designs inspired by commercial architecture.

Cable railing provider takes home top honors in manufacturer category

OAKLAND, Calif. – Nov. 21, 2017 – For the second consecutive year, Feeney, Inc. has been awarded first place in the Manufacturer Project category of the 2017 National Deck Competition. Feeney won for its deck railing on a Connecticut home designed to emulate the look of a boat. The awards, which are hosted each year by the North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA), were presented last month at the 2017 Remodeling Show/Deck Expo held in Nashville.

“NADRA is proud to have Feeney as part of its membership roster. The winning project sets the bar high in creativity through the unique and distinctive architectural design, which incorporates multi-level decks throughout the home,” said Mike Beaudry, executive vice president of NADRA.

The “Boat House”, which overlooks the Niantic River in Waterford, Connecticut, utilized Feeney’s DesignRail® aluminum railing with stainless steel CableRail infill for the deck railings, highlighted with Feeney LED Rail Lighting under the top rail. An ipe wood top rail was used to create a more authentic boat look while also matching the decking for a seamless appearance. Feeney worked very closely with the general contractor, Jonathan Laschever of Laschever Building Company LLC, and others to create a railing solution that accentuated the unconventional shape of the home, including the curved bow at the top – one of the standouts of the design.

“The Boat House project was truly a work of art created by the home’s owner and Jonathan Laschever, and Feeney was honored to be involved,” said Andrew Penny, vice president of marketing and advertising, Feeney, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high quality stainless steel and aluminum railing systems. “We regularly receive photos of decks featuring our DesignRail® and CableRail railing products, and it is exciting to see the beautiful and creative spaces in which the railings are used. dasso Breaks Ground on Bamboo Manufacturing Facility

June 23, 2017 – ATLANTA – dasso USA, Atlanta, GA., announces the groundbreaking of dasso’s new state of the art factory at a ceremony in JiangOu City, Fujian Province, China. Slated to be completed before July 2018, the facility will cover one million sq. ft. across 36 acres.

“The opening of this new factory gives us the ability to expand our operations in the area of exterior use composite bamboo and to fulfill the ever growing demand in North America for dasso.XTR fused bamboo products,” said dasso CEO.

The new plant has a capacity of 20 M sq. ft. of the new .XTR eco-composite bamboo for exterior use, creating more than 400 new factory jobs to fill its growing operational needs. Additional factory production will be used to support increasing demand in North America for dasso.XTR fused bamboo products.

dasso USA, is the exclusive sales and marketing arm for dasso in the U.S. and Canada and has a warehouse facility in Atlanta, GA.

Another plant is in the works for the production of dasso decking, siding, planks and other high-quality bamboo products.
