Boston Cedar Hosts a Game Changing Event for its Northeast Independent Lumber and Building Materials Dealers

Boston Cedar recently launched its new decking, railing, and trim product line up at its “Game Changer” kickoff event held at the Omni Providence Hotel. With many of the leading northeast independent lumber and building materials dealers in attendance, Boston Cedar Chairman Rob Ankner got things started with an overview of the company and the reasoning behind its updated best-in-class product offering, while company President Joe Cusack emceed the event.

Dealer attendees and industry affiliates attentively listened to business presentations made by owners and key executives of Boston Cedar’s new supplier partners; RDI, KOMA Building Products and Trex Company.

Rob Ankner explained some of the reasoning behind the decision: “RDI, KOMA Building Products and Trex offer everything that Boston Cedar requires of our manufacturing partners: High integrity, financial strength, forward-thinking product innovations, and unbending focus on all aspects of exceptional customer service.” Ankner continued, “By distributing these game changing lines, Boston Cedar continues a near thirty-year tradition of offering best-in-class products, delivered with unrivaled customer service to our highly-valued independent LBM dealer partners throughout the Northeast.”

To quote one the hundreds of attendees: “The product presenters and video lead-ins for RDI, KOMA and Trex were top shelf and eye opening. The positive energy and enthusiasm generated by such a display of professionalism, historical perspective and product knowledge is the “juice” that keeps us all excited about cutting edge products and our place in bringing goods to builders and end users.”

Following the presentations, dealers had an opportunity to meet one-on-one with each of the new supplier partners and then enjoyed a cocktail reception with a real game changer; Boston Bruins legend and NHL Hall of Famer, Bobby Orr. The evening culminated with an elegant group dinner and an inspirational talk by Ed Cooley, current head coach of the Providence College men’s basketball team, who encouraged listeners to always strive to be great and never settle for good enough.

I’m genuinely excited about the positive reaction by our loyal customer base to these game changing products and programs” stated Paul Colliton, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Boston Cedar.

(EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ) United States, Monday, September 30, 2013- Railing Dynamics, Inc. (RDI) is pleased to announce an agreement with Boston Cedar, effective, November 1st, 2013, as exclusive distributor of RDI’s newest railing line, TransformTM throughout their Northeast U.S. trading territory.

Transform railing is the first system of its kind within the market. Unlike composite systems, Transform has a resin based ResaliteTM core with no wood fiber or wood flour and is impervious to water and will not rot. Transform has the look, weight, and feel of real wood and is as easy to work with as traditional materials. Transform’s acrylic finish adds a painted wood-like look, provides superior pigment retention, and offers unmatched resistance to weathering. With a choice of 4 colors, 3 baluster types and 3 unique top covers, Transform offers not only strength and security but allows end users to truly “transform” their outdoor living space.

“For Barrette Outdoor Living/RDI, this announcement is significant in two ways: it reaffirms the strength in our partnership with Boston Cedar, one of our largest distribution partners and also fortifies the strategic combination of Barrette Outdoor Living and RDI as a team”, said Chris Terrels, Vice President of RDI 2-Step Distribution. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to once again partner with Boston Cedar. The launch of this product with our newest cutting-edge technology is game-changing for us and will be for the rest of the industry.”

According to RDI President Jean DesAutels, “Truly, the union of Barrette and RDI working together on this product launch has been very exciting. The hardworking ingenuity of both groups has enabled both partners to achieve results and break ground where neither could have done individually.”

According to Paul Colliton, Vice President of Boston Cedar, “We are excited to expand our relationship with Barrette and RDI. Transform allows us to bring a new technology to the market and to continue to build on the success we’ve had with the entire RDI railing program.”

Boston Cedar and RDI

Heavy Metal

Continuing a long tradition of introducing innovative building materials for independent lumber dealers in the Northeast U.S., Boston Cedar is pleased to announce its newest offering; RDI Metal Work’s Excalibur Railing.

The folks at Railing Dynamics Inc. have taken elements you’ve come to love from the Endurance and Titan Pro railing systems and created Excalibur, the new railing line from the Metal Works® family. Endurance-like hidden attachments, Titan-like easy installation, economical, and sleek satin black or hammered bronze finishes, are all combined together to create a great looking fully-metal exterior railing system. Sure, metal has been around for a while, but you’ve never seen it quite like this.

Excalibur’s pre-welded components provide strength, while the triple-coat finishing process ensures great looking durability. The pre-mounted brackets allow for quick installation. The satin, low-gloss finish hides marring, fingerprints, smudges and other dirt that can otherwise make a gorgeous railing installation look like it’s in desperate need of a spit-shine.

Excalibur doesn’t have to stop at being a suit of armor for your deck, porch or set of stairs; you can add a touch of warmth and beauty to the toughness of steel. Create a touch of elegance with a custom wood top-rail profile. Mix it up by combining white, earth, or sand post and accessory options from the Endurance and Titan systems.

At the recent JLC LIVE New England  Show in Providence, RI, contractors flocked to the RDI booth to learn more about Metal Works. During the course of live product  demonstrations, contractors were enthusiastically supportive of the ease of installation, the 15-year residential, 10-year commercial limited warranty on materials and the game-changing 2-year labor warranty. While there are many Web pages that are useable on a smartphone or tablet computer, not all are specifically designed with a mobile user in mind. You may be able to read text on a page, but some of the images or download functions could be awkwardly placed or you could possibly have trouble finding the links you need.

Due to the ubiquitous nature of changing technology, on-the-go mobile Web surfing is now viewed by many as the “new Web.” Mobile users demand easily accessible content at their fingertips from virtually anywhere. For that reason, Boston Cedar has launched a mobile-device friendly version of its award-winning website.

The key benefit of the smartphone-enabled Boston Cedar website is that it is specifically designed to provide the best possible viewing experience on a handheld device. Whether in a retail store, at a jobsite or relaxing in an outdoor setting, all of the Boston Cedar web pages have been properly scaled to be easily read on virtually any small-screen application.

For the foreseeable future, a significant number of businesses will get by just fine with simple telephone calls, emails and faxes. However with the onslaught of new social networking sites and the proliferation of “Smart Phones”, being constantly connected with new information becomes almost addictive, especially for younger adults. The very powerful and well-connected Millennial Generation likes to stay in touch and sharing information within their “community” is important in their personal and career lives. Whether it is the LBM retail store customer, the supplier helping educate an architect or the builder installing a product in the field, all parties demand immediate credible information on the given matter.
