SKOKIE, IL – CPG International, a leader in premium, low maintenance, exterior building products, announced today the hiring of former Owens Corning executive Joe Ochoa as President of its AZEK Building Products unit.

Ochoa spent the last 15 years of his career at Owens Corning, a $6 billion company, in various roles. Most recently, he was vice president of strategic marketing for the Roofing and Asphalt division, and served on the operating committee and as an officer of the company. Prior to that, he was vice president and general manager of the Engineered Insulation Systems (EIS) business; vice president and general manager of the Foam Insulation division; and general manager of the Latin America division.

Before Fifth Gear Media, Ochoa held a variety of leadership positions with Frito-Lay (part of the Pepsico Company), Procter & Gamble, and AT Kearney.

Ochoa earned a master of business administration degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business as well as a bachelor’s of business administration degree from the University of Texas.

AZEK® Building Products Unveils App Update Designed to Bring Dream Decks to Life

Enhanced Features Build on the Success of the AZEK Deck Designer and Previous Brand Apps

SKOKIE, IL— For more than 30 years, AZEK® Building Products has been an innovative leader in designing and providing premium decking products. And now, the brand is bringing the latest in deck design technology directly to contractors and consumers with a new app update.

AZEK’s updated app combines its signature user-friendly experience with the success of its recently launched Deck Designer. Updated to give customers the opportunity to bring their dream outdoor living spaces to life, the new app makes it easy to lay out unique, 3D designs using 140-plus product options that include premium AZEK and TimberTech decking, railing, lighting and accessories. When those custom designs are complete, consumers can then download a list of materials that they’ll need during the construction process. The app also helps locate local contractors and dealers.

“The AZEK app has been a huge hit since its debut on iOS in 2014. That’s why we’re excited to incorporate many of its features into this new update to make it easier for people to create and save deck designs on the go,” said Julia Fitzgerald, CMO of AZEK Building Products. “Contractors and customers alike love seeing how they can visualize their AZEK Deck and Rail design in the backyard, and the Augmented Reality mode features new markerless technology that’s available in both life-size and dollhouse versions.”

AZEK’s updated app adds a long list of new features and benefits, including a mirrored experience of the web Deck Designer that allows consumers to create virtual deck designs on the AZEK website and a Snapshot Mode that allows consumers to upload or snap a photo of their own outdoor space before attaching their virtual deck to the image. The app also comes with template decks to help customers get their designs started, as well as customized collections of user saved deck designs.

“Since the launch of our Deck Designer in January, we have received consistent feedback that people love visualizing their dream decks before investing in them. There are even templates that help guide creativity for homeowners who need a little inspiration.” Fitzgerald said. “Ultimately, bringing AZEK’s innovative programs together in this update will make virtually designing and saving dream deck images easier than ever before.”

CPG International Announces Prices Increase on Products

CPG International Announces Prices Increase on Residential Products

CPG International, manufacturer of AZEK and TimberTech branded building products has announced that it will initiate pricing increases on many of its products.  AZEK trim and molding, along with most AZEK brand decking collections, will see an increase of 7%.  Prices for capped wood composite decking products under the TimberTech brand will increase from 3-5%, depending on the collection.  The price increase will have an effective date to AZEK and TimberTech distributors for orders placed on or after June 22, 2017 for shipments completed before August 22, 2017.

The company expects that by setting the August 22nd extended the deadline for shipments on orders placed before June 22nd, most retailers and contractors should be able to get through the height of the deck-building season and into the late summer or fall without being impacted by the increased prices.  But, the key for distributors, contractors and dealers is to plan ahead and get orders placed before that June order deadline.

In a statement, the company noted that the industry has experienced significant increases in key raw materials and other direct production inputs across most PVC and other composite products.  While the company has been able to off-set much of the impact of these cost increases over the past year through on-going manufacturing improvements and other cost reduction efforts, raw materials costs had reached the point at which a price increase was needed.
