Perennial Wood Porch Flooring Available In Southern U.S.

Perennial Wood Porch Flooring Is Now Available In The U.S. South Atlantic States

September 17, 2012 – Kingsport, TN | Eastman is proud to announce that Perennial Wood™ porch flooring is now available to trade professionals and homeowners in the South Atlantic states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, through select professional lumberyards and building materials dealers serviced by Snavely Forest Products. A leading distributor of superior building products for more than a century, Snavely Forest Products was chosen by Eastman for their deep market knowledge, reputation as a provider of high quality products, and track record for providing excellent service and support. The new line of long-lasting, real wood, tongue-and-groove porch flooring is the first Perennial Wood product to be distributed in the South Atlantic.

Porch Appeal

Porches – whether they are screened, three-season, or great-American front porches – have experienced a resurgence of popularity in recent years. This regained favor is due to homeowners’ desires to spend more quality time outdoors and also to advancements in building materials that make outdoor living areas less susceptible to the drawbacks caused by moisture.

“Homeowner investments in outdoor living areas, including porches, continue to trend upwards in our country,” said Brant Mitchell, market development manager for Perennial Wood porch flooring. “The durability of Perennial Wood porch flooring provides a real wood option that is guaranteed to last. Now homeowners and builders in the South Atlantic states can invest in porches that will be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Durability

Perennial Wood brings real wood, with fewer drawbacks, to outdoor porches. Modified through TruLast™ Technology, Perennial Wood is three times more dimensionally stable than unmodified wood and resists changes from moisture for decades. The modification process makes it less susceptible to shrinking and swelling, which can lead to separation between boards, as well as cupping and warping.

Availability

Perennial Wood porch flooring is offered in three uncoated profiles:

  • 3/4″ x  3⅛” finished face in 8′ and 10′ lengths
  • 7/8″ x  3⅛” finished face in 8′ and 10′ lengths
  • 29/32″ x 5⅛” finished face in 8′ and 10′ lengths

All three profiles are available through select dealers serviced by Snavely Forest Products’ location in Greensboro, N.C. To find a dealer location near you, visit PerennialWood.com.

Sustainability

The ability of Perennial Wood to endure is just one of its sustainable qualities. Because it lasts longer than most unmodified wood, it needs to be replaced less often, resulting in less material disposal over the long term. TruLast Technology leaves no toxic substances in the wood, delivering peace of mind about the performance of the product. Harvested from U.S. Southern pine, Perennial Wood is processed in the United States, eliminating the need for shipping wood from offshore sources, lessening the environmental impact.

NADRA NJ Chapter Meeting Re-Cap June 2012

June 26, 2012 | The NADRA NJ Board would like to thank everyone that attended the meeting on June 12th, 2012 at the Chimney Rock Inn.  We had a decent turnout and had a very good meeting.  Mike and Jenny Beaudry made the trip out to attend, as well.  It was great to have them there.  Thanks for coming out, guys!!

Thank you WPFailSafe for sponsoring the NADRA NJ meeting.  Alan Weiner explained all of the components of the collapsible concrete footer form and demonstrated how easily they can be assembled.  We even had a friendly competition between builders to see who could do it the fastest.  Congratulations, Dan Miles!!!

Our speaker for this meeting was Kim Griffin from Griffin Consulting Partners.  The main topic was the importance of communication.  She explained the different types of mediums used and also the components and strategies of good communication.

Bill Lecorchik did a quick recap of the last term of the outgoing board members and thanked them for all that they have done.  We voted in the new board members – Marty Coffey for President, Bill Lecorchik for Treasurer and Judy Verblaauw for Secretary.  Marty also appointed Dan Miles as Vice President.  Marty spoke a little about his goals for his term as president and following is a statement from our new president:

“I would like to thank Rob and Lainie for their service.  We are depending on their guidance in the near future.  I couldn’t ask for a better team than the team in place now.

We recently purchased a show booth set up for conventions to be used at NADRA events.   We need a volunteer with some space we can use to set it up and change the signage. The booth is 20’ long X 8’ high.  It is now packaged in 4 large crates. If you have the space …call Marty ASAP at 732 895 3279.

We are planning a fishing trip.  We will send an email with the specifics.  I hope everyone can join us…it will be a lot of fun.

Don’t miss the next chapter meeting in August.   We will have door prizes, 50/50, questionnaire to learn what you want from NADRA and will be creating committees.

Thank you.

Martin Coffey”

Our next meeting will be on August 14th at The Chimney Rock Inn.  We hope to see everyone then!!

NADRA Atlanta Chapter Meeting Re-Cap June 2012

June 25, 2012 – Atlanta, GA | I wanted to express my sincere thanks to all of those that came out this past Tuesday evening to the Atlanta Chapter meeting.  It was a great success!  We had 60 attendees, 21 vendor tables and 19 contractors representing a dozen different contracting companies.  I want to especially thank the contractor members for coming out in full support.  The vendors that participated were well pleased with the turn out and it would not have been a successful meeting without you.   I would also like to report that the meeting was a success in terms of building a financial base.  We were able to set aside enough money to ensure the chapter of some working capital as we move forward.

I also wanted to thank Michael Beaudry and Glen Mathewson for their work on the education seminar that took place in Atlanta on May 17th and May 18th.  We had several contractor members attend and they all gave strong reviews of the content and the benefit of the course.  We will soon have several Master Contractor members as they complete the remaining courses.

As I mentioned during the early part of the meeting we are beginning the process of our “Deck for A Solider” build this year.  Scott McCawley  (Dixie Plywood) has agreed to head up this effort and will be working with Frank Pologruto to coordinate the build.  Please contact Scott or Frank if you are interested in participating.  We are looking at the calendar and will initiate the project in late August or early September.

Our next meeting is scheduled for August 21st – time and place to be announced.  Fiberon is sponsoring and we are working on a guest speaker.  Also note that Deck Expo will take place in Baltimore from Oct 9 – Oct 12. We usually have a great turnout from the Atlanta Chapter and I hope this year will be the same. Here is the link for those interested:  http://www.deckexpo.com/

The Chance of a Lifetime!

by: Michael Beaudry

June 22, 2012 | As many of you know, Legacy Services, LLC is the team that keeps NADRA afloat on a day-to-day basis. Heather has entered Legacy into an application process that could very well award us a $250,000 small business grant. As a father, I am so proud of what my girls have accomplished. The idea behind the grant is to use the funds to build a stronger team to support Legacy’s efforts. Both for the association we serve, and for business solutions that will support other small, family owned businesses just like our own. We will need 250 votes in order to qualify for this grant and we just have a few days. The funding will help us with office space outside of our home, new and efficient office equipment and the means to implement, train and maintain a larger team here at Legacy. Passion is what drives most of us on a daily basis…. and it’s contagious, right?! Please watch this video … will you vote?

As Heather put it:  This isn’t a means to an end for us… this is the beginning of something much bigger than us, and we hope that our passion for doing the right thing catches … like wildfire.

NADRA Produces Check Your Deck® Video Campaign

New NADRA Video Educates Consumers about Deck Safety Month®

May 15, 2012 – Quakertown, PA | in 2006 NADRA, The North American Deck and Railing Association declared May as Deck Safety Month®. NADRA’s Deck safety program is an effort to save lives and prevent injuries.

After 6 years of promoting May as Deck Safety Month®, the association decided on a new method of reaching the masses this year. The new video was produced using images and text to drive a strong message to consumers about NADRA’s Check Your Deck® evaluation forms and the 10-point checklist. The video can be found on NADRA’s website at www.NADRA.org. The association posted the video to their YouTube channel found under NADRAYT and to their Social Media fan pages.

Michael Beaudry, Executive VP of NADRA states, “Our number one priority to the public is to ensure that the decks they and their families enjoy are safe. NADRA takes this responsibility seriously, and has created campaigns and education programs and certifications for home inspectors, code officials, engineers, architects, builders, distributors, lumberyards and manufacturers to improve proper installation practices along with checklists and safety awareness information for consumers to follow.”

The video can be used in making the consumer aware of the necessity of choosing a professional deck contractor, providing regular maintenance and inspection, and knowing the limits of the deck structure.

NADRA Atlanta Chapter Meeting Recap

February 23, 2012 | Thanks to all who attended the chapter meeting on Tuesday night. We had 52 attendees with a large number of first time visitors. We had an opportunity to review our platform for the year, look at the calendar of events, introduce the new committees and of course hear from our sponsor and guest speaker. I am excited about all that is in front of us and I am very thankful for so many of you that are helping move us forward.

Special thanks to Bill Sullivan and Azek for sponsoring the meeting and for introducing their new paver product line. Bill, Mike and Azek have always supported the chapter and have been a part of our group since its inception. I also want to give out a very special thank you to Paul Ivey our guest speaker. Paul is the only guest speaker that we have asked to come back to our meetings and once again he did a great job in relating his experience and expertise to our membership. I did want to mention that I thought it was unfortunate that we had some background disturbance during his speaking time. All of our guest speakers come to our meetings willingly giving their time to help us with informative and helpful information to better our individual business. I hope we will all be more respectful of that in the future and give 100% of our attention during their speaking time.

I learned a lot from my first meeting. First, we need more room and we have already begun looking at new spaces. Second, I will commit to a much tighter time frame for the meetings. The social time will start at 5:30 and I will do my best to start the meeting promptly at 6:00 and end no later than 7:30. I want to continue to give plenty of time to socialize before and after the meetings because that is one of the primary benefits of getting together.

I hope to see as many of you as possible at the upcoming Atlanta Home Show where NADRA will have a booth. If you didn’t get a chance to sign up for the booth time then please contact Scott, James or Bryan.

NADRA NJ Chapter Meeting Recap

February 22, 2012 | Hello Everyone,

First off, the NADRA NJ Board and I would like to thank everyone for attending the meeting on February 7, 2012 at the Chimney Rock Inn in Bound Brook. We had an excellent turnout for the meeting. Thanks to Robert & Lainie, they put together a fun and informative meeting.

Thank you to Techno Metal Post for sponsoring the NADRA NJ meeting. We couldn’t have done it without your support. Don Delzio gave a very good video and verbal presentation explaining their product, how it is installed and how it can help our builder members. These helical piles are code approved and can be installed in a fraction of the time that it takes to install traditional footings. Techno Metal Post calls for the necessary utility mark-outs. The company reviews plans for the proposed deck and then supplies a sealed and certified engineering report that is submitted with the building permit application. These piles can built on as soon as they have been installed and eliminates the need for footing inspections. With no soil to remove, form tubes to place and concrete to pour, these helical piles seem to be a good alternative and are economical as well.

Our speaker for the evening was Jonathan Gray from Budd, Larner P.C. who explained the differences between, and the importance of, Corporations and LLC’s. He also spoke about the differences in the rate of payroll taxes for a corporation vs. an LLC and about stock options for employees.

We discussed and voted on charging a minimal $20 fee for members to attend meetings and waiving any fees for non-members to attend their first two meetings.

Gary Daley explained the education courses that are being offered in Atlantic City that will be needed to obtain theMaster Deck Builder Certification and stressed the importance of the courses.

Jen Sheridan discussed the ABC show in Atlantic City and asked for help with the NADRA booth at the event.

Remember to try to utilize our sponsors and speakers in our businesses.

Let’s all remember everything that Jen has done for NADRA and everyone of us over the past few years. Let’s all pitch in and see what we can do to help out with the booth in Atlantic City.

We hope to see you all at the next meeting in April!

NADRA ROCKS!!!!
