Successful Southeast NADRA Meeting

The Springtime NADRA event was an overwhelming success. Held at Six Bridges Brewing in Johns Creek, Georgia, some 50-60 industry professionals gathered for a great Monday night kickoff into what promises to be an exciting year for everyone. It was great seeing so many familiar faces all in one place, and encouraging to see a handful of first-time attendees!

Our guest speaker was Glenn Mathewson, who generously gave of his time to share with us the importance of staying engaged with the ever-changing deck code. Afterwards, he made himself available to anyone who had questions or concerns, providing great insight from an insider’s perspective on the goings-on in code development.

We were thrilled to see such a good turnout, and are excited to get together again soon!

I’m was so excited to be the guest speaker for the Southeast NADRA meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. My job was to get these deck professionals pumped up for my representation of the decking industry this year for the development of the 2021 IRC. Your voices are critical to development of the codes of their industry, and you need to know your value in safeguarding the public with the most appropriate and economical standards to preserve safety and American freedom. I’m so proud to carry your voice this year. There is incredible knowledge from the trenches that must be included in code development.

We spoke a bit about NADRA education and the code fundraising initiative.

TIMBERTECH CHANGES THE GAME WITH LAUNCH OF MULTI-WIDTH DECKING LINE

Chicago, Ill., Feb. 19, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TimberTech®, a leader in premium decking, continues to innovate in the outdoor living space with the launch of two new products in the TimberTech AZEK™ portfolio. In addition to its existing, standard-width deck boards, the Vintage Collection® now offers two new widths – wide and narrow. This groundbreaking approach gives homeowners the unique opportunity to customize their decks with elegant, technologically superior boards in a variety of sizes, styles and colors.

“We are excited to be among the first to bring the design versatility of indoor flooring trends to the outdoors,” said Jesse Singh, CEO of The AZEK Company. “The launch of our multi-width decking is a pivotal evolution for our company and the industry. We’re giving customers the option to go against the grain, think beyond the traditional planking everyone else has. Contractors also have the opportunity to get creative while continuing to deliver the ultimate in durability to their customers.“

Featuring a distinct, wirebrushed, low-gloss texture, and six dynamic colors, TimberTech AZEK’s Vintage Collection now comes in three widths: narrow (3 ½”), standard (5 ½’’) and wide (7 ¼”). The narrow deck boards provide a look reminiscent of coastal Cape Cod while the wide planks allow homeowners to think big. Mixing widths adds dimension to a deck which can be subtle or dramatic.

“These three widths can be used in almost any combination to create an extensive range of designs and patterns on a deck,” said Patrick Barnds, Senior Vice President of Product Management of AZEK Building Products.  “From a classic, all-narrow or all-wide look, to geometrically-complex herringbone patterns, the only limits are the imagination of the designer and homeowner.”

TimberTech AZEK capped polymer boards are 100% synthetic, making them extremely low-maintenance and resistant to mold, mildew and moisture damage. Additionally, the Vintage Collection features Alloy Armour Technology™, a proprietary capping material engineered for additional surface protection, provides industry-best, 50-year fade and stain and limited lifetime warranties.

AZEK BUILDING PRODUCTS MAKES POWERFUL STATEMENT WITH REBRANDING CAMPAIGN AND REVOLUTIONARY NEW PRODUCT LAUNCHES

Chicago, Ill., Feb. 04, 2019 — AZEK Building Products, a division of The AZEK Company, debuted its newest ad campaign during the pro football championship last night. The company is in the midst of rethinking its brand under new leadership and the spot is step one in a re-branding strategy for the Chicago-based business. The first among a series of new creative ads that are emotionally engaging and inspiring, the commercial showcases the TimberTech® product lines in imaginative and surprising ways. The full portfolio will debut February 19 – 21, 2019, at the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

“Our research clearly indicated that consumers want to be inspired, but they also seek reassurance and validation that they are making the right decision,” says Jesse Singh, CEO of The AZEK Company. “To deliver on those desires, and to continue disrupting and leading our industry, our marketing will challenge both ourselves and our customers to ‘Go Against the Grain’.”

Traditionally, the company went to market under both the AZEK and TimberTech brand names. TimberTech will now be the umbrella brand for all decking, railing, porch, paver, fastening and lighting products. The trim and moulding business will be positioned under the newly branded AZEK® Exteriors.

TimberTech’s decking portfolio includes: TimberTech AZEK™, TimberTech PRO™ and TimberTech EDGE™. The AZEK line features the same premium, capped polymer deck collections and materials known previously, but now also includes an enhanced 50-year Fade and Stain Warranty.

TimberTech AZEK’s Vintage Collection® is also launching Multi-Width decking, allowing homeowners to select from wide, standard, and narrow width planks. The TimberTech PRO™ line retains the original, 4-sided capped composite collections, while TimberTech EDGE™ showcases an entire new series of 3-sided capped composite deck boards.

“We launched TimberTech EDGE specifically for the cost-conscious consumer,” says Singh. “Previously, homeowners looking to renovate a wood deck may have opted out of composite materials given the price point. Now, we are offering a more affordable option while still maintaining the technological superiority found in all of our TimberTech collections.”

Also new in 2019 is PaintPro® from AZEK Exteriors. The versatile trim line allows homeowners to customize their curb appeal and forgo traditional white trim around the house, windows, and doors. Customers can select virtually any color they wish to truly make their home one of a kind. This includes a full range of today’s most popular dark colors in vinyl-safe paints – even black. Contractors will get the job done faster with reduced installation time due to PaintPro’s quick dry time.

TimberTech is increasing its commitment to stand behind its products by introducing new, limited warranty benefits on certain product systems for contractors enrolled in the TimberTech Loyal Rewards Program.

TimberTech is also getting a digital makeover with a streamlined website.

“Starting today, visitors can log onto TimberTech.com for an entirely new online experience,” says Jeanine Gaffke, CMO of The AZEK Company.  “Our impactful advertising and website are just the first hint at how TimberTech is going against the grain. We’ve hit the ground running. Just wait and see what’s in store for 2019. We’re just getting started.”

AZEK Building Products Joins with NADRA to Encourage Homeowners to Check Your Deck® During Deck Safety Month® in May

SKOKIE, Ill.May 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Now that spring is here, everyone will want to enjoy their decks as much as possible.  However, older decks or those with structural issues could be at risk for collapse, causing serious injury to you and your loved ones.  The North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) is partnering with AZEK Building Products during Deck Safety Month® in May to promote deck safety.  AZEK, a world leader in decking with the AZEK® and TimberTech® brands, recommends homeowners Check Your Deck® before those fun outdoor barbecues.

Contractors can use a different color edge board to show a change in elevation as an extra safety measure. Shown: TimberTech Antiqua Gold with Antigua Palm accent.

“Our first priority is homeowner safety,” says Bruce Stanhope, Vice President, Research and Development, AZEK Building Products.  “Because decks are exposed to extreme weather and temperatures over the years, they need to be inspected by a professional home inspector for structural integrity to ensure they are safe and strong.”

NADRA’s Michael Beaudry, executive vice president, agrees. “With more than 50 million decks in the U.S., it is estimated that 25 million decks are past their useful life and need to be replaced or repaired,” he says. “Consider the snowfall from the past year– the heavy loads cause additional stress on outdoor structures and create a need to re-evaluate.”

Special attention should be placed on older decks built before codes and safety were enforced. “AZEK is dedicated to consumer safety at all levels, so we have an entire department devoted to code compliance,” Stanhope noted. “Homeowners should make sure their decking meets residential code listings and that railings are strong and certified for load bearing.”

“AZEK and TimberTech brands are protected with capped technology for resistance to weather, and for high-performance and low-maintenance,” says Stanhope. “However, you never know what is happening within the substructure, so the Check Your Deck® reminder helps to ensure a safe deck season.”

Check out NADRA’s “10-Point Consumer Safety Checklist” for tips on making decks safer at www.NADRA.org.  Or, to learn more about AZEK Building Products, visit www.azek.com.

Three days can be a long time to stand on a trade show floor, but this year’s International Builders Show kept a steady pace and truly brought out the “International” for those interested in Screw Products, Inc. With growing interest from South America and even genuine interest with new friends in Africa!

From the moment we left the airport en route to our hotel, we knew this years show was going to be different. Different indeed. The IBS Marketing Team really stepped up their game this year with “Welcome” signage at the airport, as well as billboards along the way to the convention center! Well Done Team IBS!

Attendees were engaged and eager to learn. While we continued to have considerable interest in our overall Fastener line, our C-Deck Composite Deck Screws and DeckLok really caught the attention of many contractors. Several of which were proud members of the Great NADRA Team! Thanks for the continued support!

With hundreds of solid leads from contractors, dealers, distributors and fellow manufacturers, we are poised for a great 2018 at Screw Products, Inc. You won’t want to miss it! In fact, I hope they add an extra day to next year’s IBS! See you in Vegas!

The International Builders’ Show is THE trade show of the year — and a great way to start 2018 says NADRA members, Feeney, Inc.! This year was especially big for Feeney, as we unveiled our new brand evolution: new logo, new booth, all new packaging, and new literature! We got great feedback from contractors, architects, retailers, and other vendors. Folks were WOWed by our new look! We also unveiled two new products:

DesignRail® Kits: a complete modular aluminum railing system

CableRail Conceal Kits: a low-profile alternative to our original CableRail Kits

Optimism was high at the show, folks were positive about the year ahead in the building and remodeling industries. We noticed more VR games and displays in booths: you could tour a model home or a sustainable quarry in Brazil, and even smash up an old water heater with a lightsaber! We had a great time touring the show, talking to folks at Therrawood (who had our CableRail on display in their booth!), Camo Deck Fasteners, Home Advisor, Houzz, Use Natural Stone, Architectural Grille, and 84 Lumber. We even did some live streaming on Facebook at our booth on Day 3. Thank you to all who stopped by!

Heather Marchand, NADRA’s National Programs and Marketing Director, walked the show visiting members.

“I so enjoyed walking the show floor and having the chance to stop and speak to as many members as my feet would allow! The IBS show is gigantic! I needed more time! It was a blast getting to sit down with so many familiar faces- and new ones. The weather was beautiful for the outdoor exhibits. Bob Heidenreich and The Deck Store crew did an outstanding job! I loved the little touches – such as the custom picnic tables. The highlight of my trip was probably the warm, welcoming running hug I received from our members at AZEK. I love my job! I loved having the chance to see our members hard work pay off at this fast-paced, packed show. You all put a lot of time & resources into coordinating booth personnel, Facebook Live events, the displays, handouts, trinkets & novelty items & so much more. It showed! Job well done, friends! Now let’s get to work building, and get folks playing outside more… one deck at a time!”  Heather Marchand

The NADRA team met with members and prospective members at IBS. As you know, it’s a HUGE space to cover, and we missed many of you! We hope to see you throughout the year at various NADRA events and shows. Please stay in touch! If you’d like to send us photos and a brief recap from your experience at the International Builders Show, please send images, links and recap to Info@NADRA.org. TimberTech® by AZEK® Building Products Announces Launch of Three New Decking Colors at 2018 International Builders’ Show

AZEK Building Products Logo

PRESS RELEASE

TimberTech’s Legacy Collection was the first hand-scraped decking in the capped wood composite category, taking a trend seen in interior hardwood flooring, and bringing it to the outdoors.  After completing extensive research over the past year looking at consumer demand and design trends in outdoor living, TimberTech is introducing three new colors to its premium Legacy Collection. The additions include: Sequoia™, Espresso, and Whitewash Cedar™. Dedicated to providing homeowners with authentic, real-wood alternatives, the AZEK Building Products design team recognized an unmet need in the market for more dramatic designs and colors, including white decking, a color that has generated extremely positive initial feedback from customers.

“We are always listening to our contractors and homeowners to learn more about what is missing in the marketplace,” said Patrick Barnds, SVP of AZEK Building Products. “We are now offering our TimberTech capped wood composite decking in an extensive array of 16 colors, from three different collections and price points. Now more than ever, homeowners can find a color and finish that allows them to upgrade their current outdoor space while complementing their home’s existing aesthetic.”

Confident in its quality, TimberTech decking is also announcing a new warranty, upgrading from a 25-year to a 30-year limited warranty, complementing its industry-leading 30-year limited fade and stain warranty. With a superior protective polymer cap on all four sides of the board that eliminates any organic materials, TimberTech capped composites have the strength to battle almost anything Mother Nature brings. TimberTech decking is splinter free and is resistant to rot, mold, mildew and moisture damage.

Also at IBS, TimberTech will be unveiling a new fastening option with its hand-driven version of FUSIONLoc®, an exclusive fastener engineered for strength and precision.

AZEK® Building Products Partners with Dick’s Decks and Docks to Build a Dock Destroyed by Hurricane Matthew for a Deserving Family in South Carolina

Company Gives Back with AZEK Helping Hands Initiative

SKOKIE, IL – AZEK® Building Products, a leader in the development of premium, low maintenance decking, launched the AZEK Helping Hands initiative to give back to a deserving family who could use a new deck or dock after Hurricane Matthew damaged the Southeast Atlantic coast last year. This spring, Heather Doray, a teacher at Beaufort High School was surprised in her classroom, alongside her husband, Rob Kintz, with the announcement that her family was going to get a new dock.

AZEK received submissions from both her aunt and mother, nominating Heather for her charitable personality and dedication to the community. Heather also nominated her husband Rob since the hurricane was a setback for their family and the new dock would be an unbelievable gift for their family. Kintz had been renovating their house on St. Helena Island both before and after the hurricane, even after working long hours as an electrician. After all of the devastation they suffered, AZEK Building Products decided that this family deserved a new dock.

“We were finally able to buy a piece of paradise with a dock, and two years later, hurricane Matthew hit and destroyed it. It was devastating the next day to wake up and see the damage from the storm,” said Kintz. “We did not have the money to pay a dock builder, so the rebuild process would have been a slow one. Not only did AZEK replace the part that was destroyed, but AZEK replaced the entire dock. It means a lot to us that there are still companies out there like AZEK that give back to people in the community.”

AZEK partnered with Richard Knieriem, owner of Dick’s Decks and Docks, to complete the 2,800 square foot dock that features the TimberTech Docksider™ Collection in Gray.

“We’ve been using TimberTech since we started the business two years ago because I like using composite,” said Knieriem. “We love fixing docks and we love using this product – it’s basically the perfect product – and Heather and Rob will really get to enjoy a beautiful, new dock with this material. I am pleased to have been a part of this great initiative. Helping others is what it is all about.”

Leading Contractors Awarded for Unique Deck Builds using AZEK® and TimberTech® Materials

SKOKIE, IL — The recent North American Deck and Railing Association (NADRA) 2017 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee brought together industry experts in celebration of the most inspiring deck builds from the past year. Four of the award-winning decks were made using AZEK® and TimberTech® decking from AZEK Building Products.

With a beautifully-designed, two tone TimberTech deck, Fresh Decks from Sasketchewan won first place for Alternative Deck $25,000-$50,000. Completed from TimberTech’s Terrain Collection® in Rustic Elm, the unique deck features an inlayed mural with two evergreen trees, rolling hills, waves and a sun, framed by a box, pergola.

Lakesville, Minnesota-based Infinite Decks won two awards for Alternative Deck up to $25,000. Each project featured curved decking from AZEK, using colors from all three collections.  One showcased Island Oak from AZEK’s Harvest Collection®. It included Hazelwood accents, from AZEK’s Arbor Collection®, for the picture frame and inlay. The other project featured AZEK in Dark Hickory from the Vintage Collection®.

“For these award-winning decks, we used various AZEK products to bring indoor living to the outdoors,” said Mark King, founder of Infinite Decks. “We’ve been working with the AZEK product for as long as we can remember. We do a lot of curved decks and we’re able to heat it up and manipulate it. With varying temperatures here, from 100 degrees in the summer to -20 in the winter, I want to use a product that I know can withstand the elements – and I know AZEK will hold up.”

AZEK also received a Manufacturer Award for a TimberTech Pecan deck with Mocha accent from the Legacy Collection®.  The project was built by Archadeck of Nova Scotia and included a multi-level composite deck with Evolutions Rail® Contemporary in Traditional Walnut and Riser Lights.

“We’re thrilled that several of the winning decks at this year’s NADRA Awards featured AZEK Building Products,” said Patrick Barnds, General Manager of Decking and Railing at AZEK Building Products. “TimberTech and AZEK are engineered to combine high performance with low-maintenance so families can enjoy the beauty of their decks without worrying about upkeep. The winning decks this year are next-level in terms of design and we really appreciate the partnerships we have with contractors like Infinite Decks, Fresh Decks and Archadeck.”
