Deckorators® Announces Availability of Voyage Slip-Resistant Decking

New composite decking will be featured at International Builders’ Show® (IBS)Deckorators® Announces Availability of VoyageTM Slip-Resistant Decking

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., February 6, 2019 – Deckorators®, a leading brand of Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), announces the availability of Deckorators VoyageTM composite decking. The slip-resistant decking is now available to deck builders through the Deckorators distribution network.

Like other members of the Deckorators EovationsTM decking family, Voyage composite decking is 35 percent lighter than most wood-plastic decking, twice as strong as PVC decking, absorbs virtually no moisture, and offers the industry’s lowest thermal expansion/contraction. It is backed by an industry-leading 25-year structural, 25-year stain-and-fade and 25-year removal-and-replacement limited deck warranty as well as coverage for water and ground contact.

Adding to the benefits of EovationsTM technology, Deckorators Voyage composite decking features unique textured embossing for 34 percent or greater surface traction than other leading brands of composite decking, plus the bold look of vertical grain variegation and four trend-forward color options: Sierra (dark gray), Tundra (gray), Costa (golden brown), and Mesa (red brown).

Voyage Going to IBS Trade Show

Builders can see and experience the slip-resistant decking technology of Deckorators Voyage at the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), Feb. 19 – 21 in Las Vegas — the largest annual light construction trade show in the world.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, Voyage Mesa will be installed on the ProTradeCraft Demonstration Home during a live demo in the Professional Builder® Show Village. Deckorators ALXTM Contemporary aluminum railing in Brushed Titanium will be added to the deck on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

“At Deckorators, we believe strongly in Voyage and the spectrum of benefits it offers deck builders and their clients,” said Chris Camfferman, managing director, marketing for Deckorators. “We’re excited to give IBS attendees the opportunity to not only learn about the product, but also see how it works in a real jobsite environment.”

Voyage Costa decking will also be highlighted in the National Nail Corp. booth (N963). National Nail Corp. is the maker of CAMO® fasteners, which are among the compatible fasteners for Voyage decking.

Boards Offer Tested Traction

First introduced to the industry at DeckExpo 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland, Deckorators Voyage composite decking comes with innovative textured embossing that offers homeowners the enhanced safety of superior traction underfoot in both dry and wet conditions.

Voyage is proven to provide more grip on the deck surface than other leading brands of composite decking. Voyage slip-resistant decking was tested against other leading capped composite deck boards in wet conditions by an independent third-party lab under the AS/NZS 4586-2013 standard. The deck boards were tested on Sept. 24-25, 2018.

Vertical grain streaking gives Voyage — an ultra-low maintenance composite — the premium appearance of the highest-quality wood. Voyage comes in four beautiful colors that are the most popular in outdoor living spaces among homeowners.

The Voyage composite decking line is available in 12-, 16- and 20-foot solid and slotted-edge profiles, as well as 12-foot fascia. It is capped with durable polypropylene to create a surface that is stain-, fade- and scratch-resistant.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., October 10, 2018 Deckorators®, a brand of Universal Forest Products, Inc. (Nasdaq: UFPI), has expanded its innovative line of wood-alternative decking with the launch of VoyageTM. This new line of composite decking featuring patented EovationsTM technology was introduced to building material dealers and contractors at DeckExpo 2018 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Like other members of the Deckorators Eovations decking family, Voyage delivers the industry’s best strength-to-weight ratio, absorbs virtually no moisture, and allows virtually no thermal expansion or contraction. Voyage adds to these benefits unique textured embossing for superior traction on the deck surface, along with the bold look of vertical grain variegation.

The textured embossing offers homeowners the enhanced safety of superior traction underfoot in both dry and wet conditions. Deckorators Voyage decking provides 34 percent or greater surface traction than other leading brands of composite decking. Voyage decking was tested against other leading capped composite deck boards in wet conditions by an independent third-party lab under the AS/NZS 4586-2013 standard. The deck boards were tested on Sept. 24-25, 2018.

Vertical grain variegation gives Voyage — an ultra-low maintenance composite — the trend-forward appearance of the highest-quality wood. Voyage comes in four beautiful colors that are the most popular in outdoor living spaces among homeowners: Sierra (dark gray), Tundra (gray), Costa (golden brown) and Mesa (red brown).

“We use extensive input from dealers and contractors to develop products that help them stand out from the competition,” said Chris Camfferman, managing director, marketing, Deckorators. “Our partners have experienced the unique benefits of our Frontier and Vault composite decking with Eovations technology. We’re thrilled to introduce them to Voyage, the best product in a good-better-best Eovations line.”

Voyage will be available for 2019 in 12-, 16- and 20-foot solid and slotted-edge profiles, as well as 12-foot fascia. It is backed by a 25-year structural, 25-year stain-and-fade and 25-year removal-and-replacement limited warranty that covers water and ground contact. Deckorators is one of the only brands in the industry to stand behind installations in, or in contact with, water or ground.

Eovations technology makes Voyage decking strong, lightweight and stable. During the Eovations process, a polymer-mineral blend is extruded and stretched. The result is a fibrous, 7/8-inch-by-5½- inch composite board that looks and works like wood. At the same time, each board is:

  • 35 percent lighter than most wood-plastic composite decking and similar in weight to PVC for easier handling on the job site.
  • Twice as strong as PVC decking in terms of stiffness-to-weight ratio for superior durability.
  • Moisture-resistant because it contains no organic material.
  • Extremely stable with the lowest thermal expansion/contraction of any thermoplastic deck board.

Voyage is capped with durable polypropylene to create a surface that is stain-, fade- and scratch-resistant.
